Europcar Chile Rental Terms for travel between 21-Nov-2014 and 31-Dec-2019

Payment:
All deposits taken at time of booking are non-refundable.
The supplier accepts the following credit cards: AMEX, VISA, MASTER and DINERS, no surcharge for paying by credit cards. The supplier accepts cash also but NO debit cards.

 

Tax:
19%


Airport Surcharge:
8% of total.


Santiago Locations :
A surcharge will be applied (Santiago TOLL). It corresponds to USD 8.00 per day of rental + VAT. In some rates this surcharge could be included. Maximum days of charge will be 14 days.


Age :
The minimum rental age is 18 for all car categories. A young driver surcharge of USD 10.00 + VAT will apply to all drivers aged 18-21.  PDAR-LDAR and PFBR car group minimum 21 years old.


Additional Driver :
With the consent of the renter, the vehicle may be driven by other persons. One additional driver is permitted and must be present same documentation as primary driver. Cost USD 6.73 per day + VAT. Maximum days of charge will be 22 days. 


Driving licence :
A valid driver's license will be required. If license is not written in Roman or Latin Letters, an International Driving License will be required.


Cash Rental Deposit:
Not allowed.


Insurances:
CDW /LDW Coverage:
Some rates could not include this coverage. In case it is included or purchased, all car groups have excess. Value will depend on car group. In Chile this coverage includes a limited third party liability until USD 20.000. Excess: In case of accident/own damages or third parties involved, excess surcharge value will depend on car group. Amounts will be between USD 300 to USD 3.000 for all and each event depending at car group. Amounts are subject to change. Deductible amount will be charged to customer whatever customer is culpable or not. Statement Report has to be signed at the nearest station within 12 hours that the damage or accident occurred otherwise all damages will be charged


Declination of CDW/LDW Coverage:
In case rate does not include CDW, passengers are allowed to decline CDW/LDW, USD 2.000 will be blocked plus guarantee to the credit card. A declination Statement has to be signed. If the amount requested can’t be covered by Credit Card for possible damages to own and third parties, CDW/LDW will be mandatory. Statement Report has to be signed at the nearest station within 12 hours that the damage or accident occurred even if passenger declines CDW/LDW. CDW/LDW will be mandatory in case of cross border.

 

Other excess:
Roll Over or Turn Over, Theft excess and Total Loss,  excess of approx. USD 841 + VAT will be charged even if the car is covered by CDW/LDW. Signed Statement has to be signed at the Europcar station within 12 hours is mandatory otherwise full damages or car value will be charged. Amount is subject to change. Excess will be charged even if the driver  is guilty or not.

 

Damages or Accidents:
Damages or accident should be reported to the nearest Europcar Station and make a signed statement in order to activate CDW in 12 hours since the accident occurred. This statement  is mandatory to activate any coverage, otherwise full values of damages to own and third parties involved will be charge to the customer credit card. 

 

Guarantee/Deposit:
Only Credit Card, no cash accepted. Card holder and owner should be the same as the reservation and renting driver. Amounts blocked on credit card will the rental estimate value plus USD 1.500. By this guarantee, renters accept a late charge as a result of any extra not included in rate.


Domestic/ International One Ways:
 Domestic One Ways are allowed between almost stations. Please check restrictions for certain car groups. MDMR-EDMR-IDMR-IDAR-SDAR-PDAR-LDAR-PFBR-IWAR are not allowed to have One Ways to the following cities: Coyhaique, Balmaceda, Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales. International One Ways are not allowed a penalty of USD 10.000 will be charged plus all cost associated to bring back the car to Chile.


Cross border:
ONLY To Argentina possible. Seven days advanced reservations is required. Renters must send to reservations@europcar.cl scanned License and passport, credit card number with expiration at least 7 days before reservation date. Changes /cancelations only accepted before 48 hours (working days) otherwise full value will be charged as well as no shows will be fully charged. Europcar Chile will not be responsible if the renter is not able to cross the border, if renter did not send all required paperwork within the correct period. Passengers going to Patagonia may need a permit to cross border depending on each passenger schedule.  The permit will be ready at the moment when customer pick up the car, but there is a last step in order to activate the permit and it has to be completed upon at arrival with the Customs via internet so this step will take approx. half an hour more at the counter, so please consider this time at your timeline. Important for all reservation made without CDW/LDW insurance: CDW/LDW for customs it is mandatory that all rented vehicles consider this coverage. If reservation is made without CDW insurance EC Chile will automatically add it to reservation. In case of the following stations:Puerto Montt, Puerto Varas, Coyhaique, Balmaceda, Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales the only car croups allowed to cross border will be :SFAR- FFAR-FQNR-FQMR FVMD and FVAR .  Reservation made by Keddy without CDW/LDW  included, Premium Package will be mandatory ( only FQMR and FQNR groups allowed ). Credit cards insurances  or any other insurance issued  by a third party are not accepted to cross border.


Cost for Cross Border Permit:
01-15 days outside Chilean territory, USD 121,84 + VAT approx., 01-30 days, USD 208,40 + VAT approx., 01-60 Days USD 258,82 + VAT


Route Assistance/ Vehicle Recovery:
Route assistance only includes mechanical issues in route, such as battery or tyre. It could be a cost associated depending assistance. Passengers will be delivered to a safe place or to another Europcar Station. Car replacement subject to availability and must be requested to the station. In case of accident the passenger will be fully responsible for any transportation or tow truck cost of the car to the Europcar Station. Refueling charge and policy:
All cars are supplied with a full tank of fuel at time of pick-up. At the end of the rental the customer is required to return the car with a full tank of fuel, otherwise refueling charges for missing fuel will apply. Refueling charge USD 1,76 per litre plus tax. Same charge for Petrol or Diesel. Amount subject to change.

 

Grace Period:
59 minutes. Late return will correspond to a full day charge at the local rate available.


Condition of Vehicle:
Vehicle must be returned, normal wear & tear expected, in the same condition as when rented. If special cleaning is required a separate charge will apply.


Country Restrictions:
In case by law or any Government Institution states that some plate numbers are unable to circulate some days of the week, Europcar Chile will not be responsible of unused days refund. Replacements of car depend at availability.


Delivery / Collection :
It is only available at non-airport locations. It is upon request to reservations@europcar.cl with a valid credit card and expiration date except Full Credit reservation. Service available from Monday to Thursday between 10am and 05pm. Cost: USD 32.77 + VAT. Service and values is on request depending distance.


Prepayments:
If the passenger returns the car before of the agreed rental period for any reason, it will not be entitled to a refund for any unused days. No refund won’t be given to customer fails to collect the vehicle at the rental start time and has not cancelled. 


Rental Agreement :
Rental Agreement which will be provided to customer at the pick-up station will be drafted in Spanish.


Optional Coverages Offered:
Super Collision Damage Waiver (SPCDW):
Eliminates excess to zero only for own damages. Third party responsibility still will have an excess. It must be taken in addition to CDW. It cost USD 10.08 per day +VAT and it.  Only will be activated with the correspond Signed  Report Statement. Does not cover tow truck moving  in case of accident from Argentina to Chile.


Super Theft Waiver (SPTHW):
Eliminates excess from USD 841 plus VAT to zero in case of car theft or Total Loss. Cost USD 21.85 per day plus VAT.Signed Statement Report Mandatory. Maximum charge 20 days. Coverage will be valid only in Chile and does not cover tow truck moving from Argentina to Chile in case of accident.


Personal Accident Insurance (PAI): 
Provides cover against personal injury death until USD 17.800, Permanent Incapacity until USD 17.800 and Medical Expenses Reimbursement  until USD 2.800. It cost USD 2.52 + VAT.


Super Personal Accident Insurance (SPAI): 
Provides cover against personal injury death until USD 214.000, Permanent Incapacity until USD 214.000 and Medical Expenses Reimbursement  until USD 7.100. Only available when Premium Package is purchased.


Supplement Liability Insurance (SLI):
Extends Third Party liability from USD 20.000 until USD 267.000 for third party damages and liability.. Cost USD 15,13 plus VAT.Coverage will be only valid in Chile. Signed Statement Report Mandatory. Not Valid in Argentina.


SVALF Coverage:
Eliminates the excess from USD 841 plus VAT to zero in case of roll over/ turn over. Cost USD 21 per day plus VAT.Signed Statement Report Mandatory. Maximum charge 20 days. Coverage will be valid only in Chile and does not cover tow truck moving from Argentina to Chile in case of accident.


WWI Coverage:
Covers only  damages in windscreen , mirrors, glass and tyres  in case of normal use. Does not cover in Argentina. Does not cover tow truck moving  in case of accident or damage from Argentina to Chile. Cost USD 12,60 per day plus VAT. Signed Statement Report Mandatory. Maximum charge 20 days. Coverage will be valid only in Chile.


Medium Package:
Half of excess of CDW coverage in the event of damage to the vehicle as a result of collision, theft and total loss of car, SVALF Coverage for roll over. Zero excess in the event of damage to the windscreen, headlights or tires. PAI - Personal accident protection cover up to USD 214.000 in case of injury to the driver and / or passengers or damage to personal effects. At Third Party Damages the coverage is up to USD 35.700. Minimum age for to obtain this insurance is 26 year old of main driver. This insurance is not available for premium or luxury cars.Signed Statement Report Mandatory. Medium Packages insurance is limited to Chilean territory only.USD 29,41 p/d plus VAT.


Premium Packages:
Eliminates Excess to USD 0 in case of collision, theft, total loss, roll over, tyres, glass, third party coverage until USD 53.500, includes SPAI .Driver must be 26 years. Not available for premium or luxury. USD 45,37 p/d plus VAT.Signed Statement Report Mandatory. Coverage valid in Chile and Argentina but does not cover tow truck moving  from Argentina to Chile in case of accident .

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
